For whatever reason, I didn't consider the possibility of eating pizza every day to maximize wealth. My initial thought was to figure out how many times a week I could eat pizza and not hate it after a year. I came up with 3-4 times a week. I figured that it would give me plenty of money to do things I enjoy, while staying within the bounds of good health. At this point in my life, health and sanity matter more than maximum revenue. I know so many people with health problems! This was a fun thought exercise on values.
On a side note, I just tried out 750 Words. Thanks for the suggestion! I've struggled to keep a consistent writing habit and hoping that this helps. I look forward to hearing about the course that you are working on.
Thanks for playing! I am optimistic that at 1 slice per day I could build out an exercise routine that would counteract the impact of daily pizza.
Pizza is so clearly something regarded as unhealthy, so the tradeoff is more obvious, but I wonder what sacrifices people make to their health in their work (sleep, caffeine, stress, etc). Hopefully the pizza hypothetical illuminates some of those tradeoffs so people can make a more informed decision!
It is interesting you didn't mention the risk aspect here.
What if the day after making the deal I'll have a car crash, break my jaw, and can't eat pizza at all?
I can be in serious debt...
So for me, this is also about balancing the risk.
In a way, health issues can also be seen as a risk to be balanced.
I would probably commit to a lot of pizza (I don't see a reason not to bank on this opportunity for a year or so) but would also look to buy specialty insurance against unforeseen events.
Ha, this kinda blew my brain out. I decided once a week I could probably do 2-3 slices. Then I remembered how I often bore of repeating meals. I’m GF so I wondered if that’d be a factor because my body health wouldn’t serve 2-3 slices a week of regular pizza. So I came up with 20 slices a year. Which for me would be a lovely saving or allow me the opportunity to travel to Ireland.
Then my thoughts shifted to how this is comparable to with a job you every day. What am I able to endure to have financial stability and freedom. Turns out I have a lot of boundaries and would refuse to do anything that would compromise my state of mind, body health, or spirituality.
I didn't add this but I'll allow for dietary restrictions (GF, dairy-free, etc). I guess you can get pretty creative with what counts as pizza as well!

A great thought experiment thank you.

Glad you enjoyed the thought experiment =)
