I loved this article! I don’t have kids (yet), but I find it very relatable. One of the biggest lessons that I’ve been trying to apply post my burnout experience is exactly making this space that you’re talking about: for self expression, for play, and for simply not letting myself be exhausted.

Hi! Breaking it down into needs, I hope, will be helpful for myself, when life circumstances (illness, life changes, etc) knocks me back a few stages. Rather than throwing up my hands and waiting to feel myself again, I might be able to built back intentionally? At least that’s the hope. Glad to hear it’s felt relevant to you!

I feel this. My work has always been creative and in creative industries. Trying to find time to be creative in a DIFFERENT way--a way that knocks my brain out of work mode--is so hard these days. That is directly related to stress and/or exhaustion. Loved reading this.
